Presenter

Angie Tamayo Montero, LMHCA is a bilingual and bi-cultural Spanish speaking Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. Angie has a passion to work with Latinx community. She believes it is very important to understand a client's background, and belief system from a cultural and political perspective. Angie uses a holistic approach to support people in their healing journey with a social justice framework. She understands how systems of oppression shape people’s life experiences. Her healing modalities emerge from a combination of community-based experience and evidence-based practices derived from cognitive behavioral therapy, parent coaching, somatic and trauma informed therapy. She uses mindfulness and self- compassion (MSC) at the center of her practice to support clients to connect back to inner wisdom to reclaim their true power and agency. For many people their energy and attention get kidnapped by their suffering. Living in the present moment with compassion can be key in the healing process.
