This training reviewed sections that are relevant to mental health professionals with clients seeking medical intervention, from puberty blockers to surgery. This training covered what insurance companies and surgeons are expecting in MHP letters. Attendees left the training with confidence in letter writing for transgender, nonbinary and intersex clients.

Learning Objectives

● Become confident in writing letters for access to gender-affirming medical care

● Become familiar with resources such as WPATH

● Attendees will understand some of the reasons clients seek gender-affirming care


Presenter

Leiyomi Preciado
, CPC, AAC; is a Certified Peer Counselor who resides in Kitsap County. As a Transwoman of Color and a person with lived experience, Leiyomi continues to work with various organizations like Disability Rights Washington, United Peers of Washington, Washington Recovery Alliance, Washington State Community Connectors, and the Office of Recovery Partnerships to educate and reduce mental health stigma within communities and service providing systems.  As Board President of United Peers of Washington, Leiyomi has worked to make services more accessible to people who live in rural areas and foster a statewide community of people with lived experiences.
