In this presentation attendees will develop an understanding of both resilience and multiple minority stress QTBIPOC experience. Attendees will learn to apply an affirming approach in their clinical work through reflective questioning and experiential exercises.
Learning Objectives
Presenter Aleks Martin, MSW, LSWAIC, SUDP, holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Washington with an Integrated Health / Mental Health concentration. They have been in the field of health education, community organizing and social activism for over 20 years. Topics of interest they offer are in the areas of LGBTQ Cultural Competency with emphasis on health disparities, racial equity, social justice and cultural humility; Transgender and Gender Diversity, Behavioral Health (Integrated Health, Mental Health, Substance Use with particular interest in Harm Reduction), and "Safety Training" (Safe Space for ALL), a modified crisis prevention/intervention with focus on de-escalation techniques and motivational interviewing skills; including HIV/AIDS/HEP/STI health education and safer sex practices.
