State Capitol Building in Olympia
WSSCSW is bringing in our Lobbyist, Melanie Smith, to teach members about the Washington State legislative process. She will help participants understand how legislation is developed and passed and highlight several current state level policy issues that impact the profession of social work and the client populations it serves. She will provide a basic understanding of these issues and the ways in which WSSCSW and other organizations are working to impact legislative outcomes. She will also share ideas about how individual citizens can effectively advocate.
Also, special guest, Tina Orwall will be giving a short presentation on her work as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives. If you want to be informed and have an impact on state legislation, this event is for you!
