Veterans Outreach Program

What is the Veterans Outreach Program (VOP)?

Veterans Outreach Program (VOP) is a community program developed by members of the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work, a not-for-profit membership organization of social work professionals founded in Washington in 1988.

VOP has over 25 Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) therapists in private practice. They offer outpatient mental health services to individual Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and their family members, mainly in greater Seattle and King County, but expanding throughout Washington State. VOP Clinical Social Work therapists provide services on a sliding scale, or free/pro bono basis, as needed.

VOP History

  • VOP was developed in 2005, in consultation with the PTSD Clinic of the Seattle Veterans Administration Medical Center.
  • It was created to provide increased access to professional mental health services for families, children and couples.
  • It maintains ongoing contact with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs and the King County Veterans Program.
