Dinner Meetings 2007 - 2008

The overall theme for this year's dinner meetings is multi-faceted. As a committee, we began thinking of the overall theme being "Working with Projection as Experienced in Varied Levels of Pathology." But as we began to approach people on this topic, the issue of trauma came up consistently, along with alternative methods of treating trauma. In such alternative methods, projection is less the focus of concern than is the case in psychodynamically oriented therapy. Then there was interest in looking at the varied ways to treat anxiety (since research typically shows cognitive behavioral therapy to have the most successful outcome) so we have included a meeting looking at the treatment of anxiety. So, I call this year's dinner meeting theme, "Group Process Activated," and as such we hope you find the topics as interesting as those of us on the Professional Development Committee.

All dinner meetings will include case material to enliven the theoretical concepts presented. The opportunity to dialogue with fellow clinicians in an intimate group has always been one of the special traditions of the Society, and this year is rich with such opportunity.
